Why wasn't my book accepted? How disappointing to have your work rejected. You worked hard on it and spent many hours sweating over it trying to tell your story, or get your point across. Your work is rejected and you don't even know why. Was your story or work that bad? What was wrong with it? Why wasn't it accepted? What a blow to your creative spirit. How discouraging. After all the creative effort, don't you want someone to review your work to be sure it is presented in the best possible way? Many an author has been turned aside when all they needed was A Good Edit. |
First-time author? First-time authors are particularly vulnerable. Over the years, I have worked on many books and works, especially with first-time authors who have written a good story or work that would be enjoyable and informative to read, but is so filled with errors that the point is lost. Sometimes it may be unclear what is meant, the character names, or important places or events are spelled differently, the plot takes a turn without explanation, or many other things you just didn't see. You think you have done everything correctly, re-read it and reviewed it until you just can't bear to do it one more time. You think it is perfect and you have found everything. This is usually not the case. It is very difficult to edit your own work, regardless of your grasp of grammar, spelling, punctuation and writing fundamentals because you see only what you meant to write. You know what the storyline is, the places and events, the characters, and all the elements that make up your work. When this happens, the reader will most likely lose interest and quickly put your book down. Your credibility is lost. What a shame! All the hours, sweat and heart put into your work gone to waste when all it needed was A Good Edit. Contact us for a sample edit. |

Self-publishing? How important is this? Who will be the last person to see your writing before going to print? Most likely you will. Generally speaking, most self-publishing businesses do not edit your manuscript. Whatever you send is formatted and printed. Your readers will be first to find any errors or problems. How embarrassing! Your books are printed and can't be changed. The cost is yours to bear. A Good Edit beforehand would have saved you the cost and embarrassment. |
Only need proofreading? Proofreading, also known as line editing, is especially important. It is sometimes used incorrectly to refer to copy-editing, which is much more detailed, although there is some overlap between the two. In some environments this may be true. We make no distinction. We read everything line by line, word by word and correct or highlight any errors we see. We check for typos, spelling, punctuation, grammatical errors, formatting errors and anything we see that may need to be corrected. This is the final coat of polish your work needs to be the best it can be. It puts the shine on it! It takes away the distraction that errors put in the mind of the reader. It highlights the efforts of your hard work and gives your work the respect it deserves. Our rates start at $.005 per word. |
